One alternative for a missing tooth is the placement of a fixed bridge. This is a restoration that replaces or spans the space where one or more teeth have been lost. A fixed bridge is bonded or cemented into place. The teeth on either side of the missing tooth are prepared by the dentist followed by an impression. This information is sent to the dental lab that normally takes approximately 2 weeks to construct the bridge. In the meantime, a temporary bridge is placed. Advantages of the fixed bridge:
